Salicylic acid or mandelic acid — which one do you need?

Both clear pores. They work at different depths, and that decides which one suits you.

Salicylic acid (BHA) is oil-soluble, so it travels into the pore lining and dissolves the sebum plug. That makes it the better choice for blackheads, whiteheads, closed comedones and visibly oily skin. Mandelic acid (AHA) is water-soluble and works on the surface.
